So we had a very nice Christmas. For once, Charlie was off work on Christmas and Christmas Eve and I actually had a couple of days of vacation (all our time off in the last few years has gone to trips to China, so the just-because days off have been few and far between). Wednesday we took the kids to see the new Alvin and the Chipmunks movie (surprisingly cute) and Thursday we did the traditional Christmas Eve at my parents' house. The kids were up early Friday am and we spent the next two days hanging around the house, playing games and just enjoying family time. We did get a Wii this year and it's darned fun. We don't have other video games (except Leapsters which are fun, but educational) and the best part about the Wii is that you have to be active to play the games. Also, I can do much better at Wii bowling than in real life. A few Christmas pictures are posted above.
It's been cold and clear for the last two days. This afternoon it was supposed to start raining. I came out of a meeting in a windowless conference room to find out that it had been snowing for an hour. I left downtown around 4:30 and made it to the kids' daycare at 6:10 - a distance of 5 miles. And when I got there, no kids. They had a field trip to go swimming today and were somewhere on a bus between another school and ours. They didn't get there until after 6:30 (the daycare closes at 6:00) and then we had harrowing drive home in about 3 inches of snow. The problem with this area is that everyone (including myself) panics at the first sighting of flakes. Most major roads were completely clogged and there were accidents everywhere. Charlie works about 20 miles from our house and spent a couple of hours at my sister's house which is nearby and is now on the way home. It's supposed to warm up overnight and be gone in the morning--please, please, please let that happen, because if daycare is closed, I can't go to work and I have a zillion things to do before Friday! Snow days are not so fun when you are an adult....although last years' 17 inches, which closed our office, was a real treat.
The outdoor pictures are from a very cold visit to the park on Sunday. It was gorgeous out but with the wind, somewhere in the the twenties and not too conducive to running around the plaground.

Great to hear that you guys had a good Christmas! This year has found us on the road with family in different states - but overall it's been one of the better Holidays on record! Promise an update once we get home!
In the meantime - Happy New Year to all ya'll!
