Our school started a program this year where each teacher recognizes a couple of kids each month as students of the month. This award is given at an assembly and parents are invited. What's cool is that I think every kid will end up getting an award by the time the school year is over. Annie, Bethany and Jack all got awards last fall, though we missed Jack's ceremony as he didn't give us the letter from the teacher. We were surprised to get another invitation and it turned out that Bethany's speech teacher also gave her an award. Charlie had to work, but I was able to come and Bethany was so pleased. On the way out, I stopped in Annie's classroom and it turned out that she had just passed the statewide reading test for third graders. After school we celebrated with ice cream at Ira's Deli. This Deli is housed in what used to be a pretty scary little grocery store. Ira and his wife have totally fixed it up and added the deli and nice seating areas. The kids love it and Ira and Mrs Ira (don't know her name) are always so nice when we come in.
Here's a picture of Miss B and her speech teacher and a couple of random shots from the park today.
